Nebraska and Andy Rooney

We left Cheyenne, Wyoming early this morning and as we were driving through the state of Nebraska I started to think of Andy Rooney of 60 minutes fame. Some of you are too young to know who he is, but he was always asking in an animated voice........... "did you ever wonder why............". Well, in Nebraska I was thinking to myself (Laura was asleep) in my best Andy Rooney voice................

Did you ever wonder why they have a tourist information center in Nebraska? Just who goes on vacation to Nebraska.........people from Oakley, Kansas? Some of the hot spots in the state are the Museum of Military Vehicles, the Museum of the Fur Trade, Cabela's World Headquarters and the Mean Wind Farm. I wonder if it's an organic wind farm?

Did you ever wonder why they have a sign on I-80 that says "Watch for wind on overpass"? I don't know about you, but I have never seen the wind and I never know it's around until it's too late. I thought about stopping on the overpass to look for the wind, but it would have been too dangerous on such a busy interstate.

Did you ever wonder why the state of Nebraska has a county named Cheyenne? It's about a hundred miles east of Cheyenne, Wyoming. You would think that if you were going to have a county named Cheyenne, it would be in Wyoming, near Cheyenne.

Anyway, we are at the Nebraska State Fair Park just outside of Lincoln and I'm wondering why.

  1. Mark, you are crazy, and really, really bored!!!! But, that was a good Andy Rooney impersonation!
I wonder if the people at the Mean Wind Farm are mean, or is it the wind that is mean. Anyways why would anyone want to go to a wind farm to see something that they can't even see. I guess that is why they put it in Nebraska instead of Florida, no competition for the tourist!

  2. I'm really disapointed that you didn't go to the Wind farm and take pictures.
You could be a columnlist writing about all the uninteresting things to see on a road trip.
    Having fun with boredom, Brillant!
